Theater Thursday // April 2, 2020

I don’t have many updates this Thursday, but did just want to share a few things that I’m reading and watching. Hope you’re staying healthy and safe!

How Theater Artists are Helping NY Fight COVID-19

This is a great piece written by Playbill that covers how New York Governor Cuomo enlisted the help of Broadway and other theater industry professionals to help use their time and skills to contribute towards fighting the coronavirus. Highly recommend reading this hopeful article and learn how you, too, can help fight the virus from your own home.

Patti LuPone House Tours

Stage legend Patti LuPone is doing her part and social distancing. To help keep us entertained, she’s been sharing some really zany videos to her social media. If you ever wanted to witness Patti LuPone dressed as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard giving a tour of Patti LuPone’s house, look no further. Beware: many 90s relics abound.

BroadwayWorld Book Club

Theater news website BroadwayWorld has started its own book club! I mentioned the historian Jennifer Tepper in last week’s Theater Thursday post, and BWW has decided to start reading the first volume of her series, The Untold Stories of Broadway, their first book club choice! Now is a great time to jump on that bandwagon – learn how to participate here.

That’s all for now! I’ll be trying to tune into the National Theatre at Home broadcasts at some point over the next few days (mentioned last week).

Let me know how you’re keeping up with arts and culture wherever you are!
