I’m so, so, so incredibly excited that the spring semester is over because that means I have more time to read leisure books! The two books I’m currently reading are ones that were recommended to me…
Seductive Poison by Deborah Layton
If you haven’t heard the story of Jonestown and the Peoples Temple, you’re in for a real shock. It’s both disturbing and tragic – and should be required reading. It’s probably not the first time something like this has happened, and it sadly won’t be the last if people aren’t aware about the dangers of organized groups.
Layton tells her firsthand account of her involvement with the Peoples Temple and of her time in Jim Jones’s inner circle. She’s brave for telling her story now, but she was even braver then when she escaped from Jonestown and returned to the United States to alert others of the horror occurring in Guyana.
At times, you’ll find it hard to believe that what you’re reading is entirely true – this crazy stuff actually happened. This book is a page-turner, and you’ll be suggesting it to others once you’re finished.
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Ok, so I technically haven’t started reading this one yet, but I thought I’d jump on the TFIOS bandwagon before the movie hits theaters. From the movie’s tagline, “one sick love story,” it’s clear that either the main relationship is disgusting, or someone is gravely ill but manages to fall in love anyways. I think it’s the latter.
I’ll update when I finish this one!

What’s next on your reading list? I’m always looking for new recommendations!
