Five Facts Friday

In honor of my upcoming return to Wisconsin, I thought I’d throw together some random fun facts about the good ole cheese state. I’m actually super excited – this time of the year is basically perfect weather. Not too hot, not too cold. AND I get to take Brownie on a million walks while I’m home. Who could ask for anything more?

  1. The first practical typewriter was designed in Milwaukee in 1867. Yeah, we practically invented the computer.

  2. The nation’s first kindergarten was established in Watertown in 1856. Its first students were local German-speaking youngsters.

  3. Wisconsin produces more milk than any other state. WI is the dairy capital of the United States. NOT California.

  4. The original Barbie is from Willows, WI. Barbie’s full name is Barbie Millicent Roberts. She basically bleeds green and gold.

  5. Titanic‘s Jack Dawson is from Chippewa Falls, WI. “Are you of the Boston Dawsons?” “Uh, no. The, uh, Chippewa Falls Dawsons.” Swoon, ladies. SWOON.
