[currently] What I’m Loving

It’s snowing in the city (and I’m bundled in my apartment), and I can’t think of anything better to do than make a list of my current favorite things:

eos Lip Balm

I don’t know about you, but my lips have been so dehydrated with this cold weather. And as someone whose lips were already dry before the cold, eos has been a lifesaver at keeping my lips soft and hydrated. I have nearly every Smooth Sphere flavor and the Smooth Stick in Vanilla Bean. One of my absolute favorites is Sweet Mint because of the tingling feeling it leaves on my lips. Bonus points if you try out their hand lotion – definition of smooth in a bottle that fits right in your purse! I know I’m not the only lover of eos… what’s your favorite flavor?

Minnesota Mittens

I first got these amazing mittens two years ago at the UW-Milwaukee bookstore, and they are the most amazing mittens I have ever had. I was devastated when I lost my first pair, so I went back and bought three more! They sell them in wool and berber – both are amazingly warm and cozy for your hands. The company even refers to them as “sweaters for your hands.” And on top of the ultimate warmth factor, the mittens are also made from excess cotton/fabric leftover from sweaters – so they’re fairly sustainable! They come in all sorts of unique designs and patterns, different sizes, and the berber gloves have a flip-top option so you can more easily use your touch-screen phone. And as if I didn’t give enough praise for these mittens, they are also “Mittens with a Mission” – the company promotes opportunities for employment for people with disabilities in the U.S while creating awesome mittens. Could you ask for anything more?

Finding (and trying!) New Recipes

Since I’ve been living on my own now, I’ve been so excited to cook new things (when I find the time, of course!). Some of the more amazing recipes I’ve tried have been:

  • Inside-Out Ravioli – this one is made in the slow cooker and tastes absolutely delicious. I was calling it “inside-out lasagna” until I re-read the recipe – whoops! Well, whatever it is, it’s fabulous and you should try it.

  • Chocolate Candy Cane Pull-Apart Bread – so I haven’t actually made this one YET, but I plan to make it for my family’s Christmas celebration. Since baking bread is kind of my specialty (just ask anyone who’s had my killer banana bread), I can’t wait to try this!

  • Stuffed Peppers with Tomato Basil Cream Sauce – I tried this one back in September, and it’s pretty good. However, be sure to make enough time to cook it. I underestimated how much time I would actually need, and that made for one pretty frustrated chef!

Etsy

Now, I know, I know… Etsy isn’t anything new. BUT I found the most perfect shop through which to buy some Christmas gifts, and I’m so excited to give out some presents. As much as I wish I could post the shop’s link… I know that a few people who read my blog are going to be receiving gifts from said shop. So until then…

What are some of your favorite Etsy shops?

Charming Charlie

When I was home in WI for Thanksgiving, my mom took me to this adorable shop called Charming Charlie. They have so many different jewelry and accessory selections to choose from – you could spend hours looking at everything they have! And to make it even more awesome, everything is entirely affordable – for any type of budget. I found three amazing scarves, two necklaces, a ring, and the most perfect dressy shirt for Christmas – all for under $30. So crazy and awesome. I’ll definitely be back there during winter break.

This was a nice break away from the final papers and projects I have left to work on. Do you have any favorite things you’re crushing on right now? I’d love to hear (it will give me a reason to take another study break 😉  Leave a comment below! Other than that…

10 more days until Christmas Eve!
